TRIP OVERVIEW

This is a combined trip taking you to Uganda and Rwanda for a number of tourist ventures.

It starts with a visit to the largely forested park of Uganda, Kibale Forest National Park mainly renowned for its variety of primates including both diurnal primarily the chimpanzees and nocturnals such as galagoes, tailless pottos among others. It then continues to explore the Queen Elizabeth National Park, a habitat for a number of animals including Cape buffalo, water buck, lion, Uganda kob, leopard, hyena, giant forest hog elephants among others as well a number of bird species including the African skimmer, pick-backed pelicans, papyrus canary, martial eagle and the great flamingos and many more.

To spice up your adventure memories, you will go for a Mountain Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to see these primates’ species that are recognized among the most endangered animals on the planet only found in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.

After trtacking the Gorillas, you will visit Lake Bunyonyi, a lava dammed lake well known for its spectacular beauty formed by the 38 small islands protruding from the waters before crossing to Rwanda to visit the Volcanoes National Park, the haven for the mountain gorillas the rare monkey species of the old-word Monkey family, the Golden Monkeys that are endemic to the Virunga massif.

TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
  • After breakfast, start on a transfer to Kibale forest National Park via Mityana –Mubende.
  • En route, visit the crater lakes, Toro Palace and the Karambi tombs.
  • Dinner and overnight at Kibale safari Lodge or Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for up market/ Chimps nest for mid-range and Chimpanzee guest house for budget
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth
  • You will track the chimpanzees in the morning afer a short brief from the rangers on how to behave while in the Forest.
  • Later on, you will get back to the lodge as you prepare for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge for up market/Hippo hill camp or Ihamba for mid-range/Simba Safari camp for budget.
Day 3: Game drive and Launch cruise
  • You will do a game drive in the morning from the Kasenyi area with in the Park and in the afternoon take a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
  • Set out for the early morning game drive with in the park to search for the early risers and animals you missed out in the previous game drives.
  • Alternatively, you can go for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura gorge.
  • After Lunch, transfer to Bwindi Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions.
  • Dinner and Overnight at the lodge agreed upon depending on your Gorilla tracking sector.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking experience
  • You will be briefed first of Mountain Gorilla trekking from the park headquarters.
  • Start on your trek into the thick impenetrable forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas.
  • You will be allowed to interact with the Gorillas for an hour after finding them, take some photos.
  • Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Kabale and Lake Bunyonyi
  • After breakfast, you will transfer to Kabale a district commonly known as the Switzerland of Africa because of its scenic beauty and weather.
  • Later on transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Arcadia cottages for up Market/Bushara Island camp for mid-range or Bunyonyi overland camp for budget.
Day 7: Full day at Lake Bunyonyi
  • After breakfast, you will go for a full day boat tour on the lake to different small islands.
  • Later in the day you will visit the Pygmy villages for entertainment.
Day 8: Transfer to Rwanda
  • Transfer to the Uganda Rwanda border of Katuna in the morning and then to Ruhengeri in Volcanoes National Park.
  • In the evening, visit the Twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo and take a boat ride so as to interact with different local Rwandese.
  • Return for dinner and overnight stay in Ruhengeri at Gorilla Nest Camp for up market/Kinigi guest house for budget/Hotel Muhabura for midrange
Day 9: 2nd Gorilla experience
  • Start on your trek into the thick forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas after a quick briefing by the rangers.
  • You will be allowed to interact with the Gorillas for only an hour after finding them, take some photos. Later on return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali
  • Early in the morning, transfer to Kigali which is country’s capital city for a drop-off at the accommodation or Airport.
