This is an exclusively Primates watching Safari. It starts with a visit to the Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary, the home of orphaned and captivated chimpanzees on Lake Victoria.

It then takes you to Kibale Forest National Park the home to up to 13 primates’ species including the chimpanzees, Mangabeys, different kinds of monkeys such as L’Hoest, Vervet, Black and White Colobus, red colobus, Patus among others. The park also has nocturnal primates that you can see during a night forest walk with a ranger/ guide such as the bush babies, galagoes, pottos among others. Nearby to the park is the Bigodi Swamps that is famed for bird watching.

The trip also takes you to do one of the most adventurous activity while in the pearl of Africa, Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest.

ITINERARY

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
  • Pick up by our Guide at the Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your assigned accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay (for evening and night arrivals).
  • Morning arrivals can take on a short city tour around Kampala and Entebbe to visit places like the Kasubi tombs, Namugongo Marty’s shrine, Lake Victoria shores, Uganda museum and so on.
  • Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/Kampala Serena Hotel for up market or Imperial royale/Cassia Lodge for mid-range or Holiday Express Hotel/Excellent Hotel for budget or any other of your choice/ as agreed upon.
Day 2: Transfer to Ngamba Island
  • Boat transfer to Ngamba Islands Chimpanzee Sanctuary in the morning for about an hour.
  • Spend some time with the Chimpanzees as they feed from the Visitors platform before returning to the pier with a boat and be transferred to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
  • Transfer to Kibale forest National Park via Mityana -Mubende.
  • Visit the crater lakes and the Toro Palace, Karambi tombs.
  • Dinner and overnight at (but not restricted) Kibale safari Lodge or Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for up market/ Chimps nest for mid-range and Chimpanzee guest house for budget.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk
  • Early in the morning is a short chimpanzee briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials before getting into the forest to start a search for the chimpanzees.
  • As you lookout in the trees, you will see other primates that the park offers and different bird species like the great blue turacco, Africa pied king fisher , malkites and so on.
  • In the evening, go for the Bigodi swamp walk to search for the water loving bird species.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at (but not restricted to) Kibale safari Lodge or Primates Lodge or Ndali Lodge for up market/ Chimps nest for mid-range and Chimpanzee guest house for budget.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • After breakfast, start on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park, reaching in the time for lunch
  • In the afternoon, go for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel to see the most famous water loving animals like crocodile along the river banks, elephants taking water, hippos and many bird species.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge for up market/Hippo hill camp or Ihamba for mid-range/Simba Safari camp for budget.
Day 6: More Game Viewing & Transfer to Bwindi forest National Park
  • Set out for the early morning game drive with in the park to search for the early risers and animals you missed out in the previous game drives.
  • Alternatively, you can go for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura gorge.
  • In the afternoon, transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions.
  • Dinner and an overnight stay at Gorilla Forest Camp/Gorilla resort for up market, Buhoma lodge or Lake Kitandara camp for mid-range or Buhoma community Bandas for budget in case you booked for Buhoma sector.
Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience
  • You will be briefed first of Mountain Gorilla trekking from the park headquarters.
  • Start on your trek into the thick impenetrable forest to start your search for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas.
  • You will be allowed to interact with the Gorillas for an hour after finding them, take some photos.
  • Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Transfer back to Kampala
  • After breakfast at the lodge, drive back to Kampala with your lunch en route in Mbarara town.
  • Reach Kampala late evening for a drop off at your Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe Airport to catch your Flight back to entebbe.
